From a Carolina Hollow to a Spiritual Calling: The Journey of Eddie Duncan
I am Eddie Duncan, also known to many as QueyQuay. My story begins not in a library or a seminary, but in the pristine, vocal forests of a family farm nestled in a hollow near Clover, South Carolina. Born on October 4th, 1951, as the second of three sons to Charles and Betty Duncan, my earliest and most formative world was one of red clay, whispering pines, and the unwavering, gracious love of my Grandma.
It was clinging to her apron strings and roaming those foothills that I first learned the rhythms of life, hard work, and a love that was both structured and boundless. My Grandma, a woman who raised twelve children and was cherished by all, was my first glimpse of God’s grace on earth. She was the guiding force, the sensitive and strong heart that gave our family its purpose and its soul. The love for her and that exuberant life on the farm is a cornerstone of my being, a touchstone of purity and connection that I carry to this day.
When my family moved to Tampa, Florida, at the age of ten, I carried the spirit of that Carolina hollow within me. I graduated from Hillsborough High School in 1969 with “great expectations,” as many young men do, yet the world’s path often leads to a destination far from the soul’s true home. For nearly thirty years in Florida, my journey continued, searching for a purpose as solid as the farmlands of my youth.
The turning point came not from without, but from a revelation within, the learning of the fundamentals of my sovereign birthright in Christ. It was a seismic shift in understanding that illuminated the true genius of our God-given self-government and rekindled a fire of “great expectations” not just for my own life, but for this nation and for all of mankind.
Truth and Relevance Are All Answers is the fruit of that awakening. It is the culmination of a life journey from the physical soil of South Carolina to the spiritual bedrock of faith in Yeshua the Christ. I do not write as a theologian, but as a brother who has walked, stumbled, questioned, and been lifted up. I write to remind you of the truth you may have forgotten in the hustle of modern life: that you are eternally, purposefully, and wonderfully made, and that your life is part of a grand, everlasting design.
I am, and will always be, eternally your Brother in Christ,
Eddie Duncan aka Quey Quay
AuthorWhat and Why I Write
What I WriteI write to bridge the chasm between the eternal and the everyday. My words are not crafted as scholarly dissertations to be studied in quiet libraries, but as living testimonies to be felt in the clamor of a seeking heart. I write about the sovereignty we were born with but have forgotten, the divine thread that connects each of our lives to a grand, everlasting tapestry, and the radical, transformative compassion modeled by our Brother and Savior, Yeshua the Christ.
My writing is a blend of the sacred and the personal. I draw from the deep, timeless well of Scripture, not to quote it as a cold, historical text, but to illuminate its shocking, immediate relevance to our modern dilemmas, our private fears, and our collective longing for purpose. I weave in the memories of a Carolina hollow, the lessons from my Grandma’s apron strings, the whispers of that vibrant forest, to remind us that God’s truth is not alien to our human experience; it is its very foundation. I write about faith as a return to reality, an awakening to what has been true all along.
I write because I remember what it is to have “great expectations” for a world that often delivers little. I write because I, too, once navigated by a map that led nowhere, until the fundamental truth of my birthright in Christ was revealed to me, reorienting my entire existence.
I write as a warning against the slumber of the soul. We are lulled to sleep by the noise of politics, social media, and the relentless pursuit of temporal comforts. We have forgotten the language of our own creation. My writing is a gentle, yet urgent, shake upon the shoulder, a call to remember who you are before the world tells you who to be.
But more than a warning, I write as an offering of comfort. The journey of awakening can be lonely and disorienting. You are not alone. I write to extend a hand, as a brother who has walked this path. I write to testify that there is a peace that does indeed surpass all understanding, and it is available to you.
Ultimately, I write out of a debt of love. The same love that my Grandma showed me, practical, gracious, and structuring, is a mere reflection of the boundless love of the Creator. Having received such grace, how could I not share it? I write because the truth, when truly grasped, is not meant to be kept in a private vault. It is meant to be proclaimed, shared, and lived out in the fellowship of mankind. It is my humble prayer that these words do not end with you, but that they ignite a fire within you, compelling you to live a life of thankful awareness, purpose, and unshakable relevance in the eternal plan of God.
